Kodiak

Kodiak is an Available Alaskan Husky

This entry has expired and the information may no longer be current

This is Kodiak

He is a neutered Male, 8 years old, Housetrained, Lead Trained, good with Children, good with Large Dogs, has Rabies vaccinations, microchipped.

This handsome old boy is an 8yr old, 65 pounds, neutered, and in good health with current shots. Kodiak is excellent with other dogs from about 30 pounds up. He's good on leash and at dog parks.  He was rescued at about 8mo by my sister, and has been her constant, loving companion for years.

Unfortunately, she has experienced several recent medical events culminating in paraplegia and wheel chair, and is currently fighting against losing her home and being placed in nursing home.

Kodiak has had some of the issues common to huskies, such as separation anxiety, extracurricular exploration (i.e. escaping) and strong prey drive. (He's still very proud of recently learning to jump a 3ft fence and catch ducks from a local park.)

Although he has mellowed a lot over the years, he's still too big, too needy, and noisy for most folks to handle. Ideally, we are looking for a temporary placement (up to 3 months) in case my sister is able to return to her home and dogs. But this could be a permanent surrender if she's forced into permanent care facility.

He's become relatively bonded with me over last 2 months of house and dog sitting, but I am returning home to WA at the end of the month. I have 2 dogs (that he's  fine with), but I also have 2 beloved cats, (that he will consider a delicacy). We also do not have a securely, fenced yard that can contain him.

Is Kodiak a dog that you can help? I can bring him with me when I return from Reno to WA at the end of this month.

Thanks - Liz
