Ruben is an Available Siberian Husky
This entry has expired and the information may no longer be current
This is RubenHe is a neutered Male, 4 years old, Housetrained, Lead Trained, good with Large Dogs, good with Small Dogs, has Rabies vaccinations, has DHLPP vaccinations, microchipped.
Ruben is a beautiful boy who is also super sweet. He was on our adoption floor for several weeks and finally got adopted about a week and a half ago. The adoptive family seemed to be seasoned dog handlers and they even brought their medium sized dog for a dog to dog intro before adopting. The very first evening they took him home, the new owner attempted to put him in a crate. Ruben (who can be stubborn but NEVER showed any aggressive tendencies with our staff or volunteers), snapped at him as he attempted to crate him but did not bite. He also told us Ruben and his dog were playing roughly and Ruben tried to go under the fence to get away. No injuries were sustained but the family felt like they couldn’t handle Ruben and that very same night, left him in a night receiving kennel at SVACA.
We feel like Ruben didn’t get a fair shake--- he was literally in the home no more than a few hours before they marched him back to the shelter and basically abandoned him in the middle of the night.
Our staff are all very fond of him but feel he needs to be in a different environment. Volunteers and staff have been working with him and he’s a good boy—he’s strong and a bit stubborn as I mentioned (like when volunteers try to return him to his adoption room after play time, he’ll sometimes stop in his tracks and not want to go back into his room. But he eventually does and never showed any sort of aggression to any of the staff or volunteers while here.
Please let me know ASAP if you think you would consider fostering him. I’m happy to send more pictures and videos if there is interest or set up a time to meet him.
